If you’re going on holiday or just heading to the beach, during the summer months some of you will want to show off a washboard stomach.

Now let’s get one thing straight, it isn’t going to be easy to get those ab’s muscles showing because for abs to become visible body fat levels needs to be between 10-15%. You’ll need to change your diet and add a few core exercises to your workout to see results.

Caloric deficit

Less in. With the increase in exercise you will have to cut down on the amount of calories you consume per day. Try to cut your intake by 500 calories, your body will start to burn stored fat for energy. Men should be consuming on average 2500 calorie per day and women 2000 so knock 500 off that amount.

Portion size

Eat small portion sizes throughout the day and aim for 6 meals per day. Try to eat every 4 hours as your body will try to burn less calories if you’re starving yourself.

No Alcohol

Not even a sip.

Drink lots of water

Increase your H20 intake, try to drink between 1.5 and 2 litres a day.

Eat the correct carbs

Stay away from processed carbs such as white bread and pasta, aim to eat slow release carbs such as beans, oats and rye.

And that’s it, a healthy balanced diet coupled with a good exercise programme and those abs will be showing in no time.
